Wayne veterans honored in Williams House exhibition weekend of May 27 to 29

WAYNE — The Cary Library’s Williams House is honoring the town’s veterans on Memorial Day weekend with a special exhibition that includes photos as well as memorabilia.

The Salute to Wayne Veterans exhibit at the Williams House will be open for viewing at 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 27, and Sunday, May 28. On Monday, May 29, which is Memorial Day, it will be open from noon to 2 p.m., following the 11 a.m. parade down Main Street and ceremony in the park.

The display of photos of Wayne’s veterans includes a description of their years and location of service, as well as photos taken at past Memorial Day parades and ceremonies. Memorabilia, including war letters, photos of Japanese attack planes, love poems, antique garb and a banner showing a comprehensive list of vets, is also on display.

The public is welcome to view the exhibition at the Cary Library’s Williams House at 14 Old Winthrop Road. Call 685-9005 for more information.
