MONMOUTH — The Friends of Cumston Public Library will welcome spring with plants, food, performances and more, at the 32nd annual May Faire from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., May 20. The event will take place on the lawns, porches, Caucus Room, Reception Room and front parking lots of Cumston Hall on Main Street.
Home-grown perennials from local gardens and flowering annuals from Gingerbread Farms in Wayne, Steven’s Perennials, and H.L. Cottrell’s Children’s Gardens will be featured.
Collectibles and oddities will be sold in the newly restored Reception Room of Cumston Public Library, FOCL’s Lobster Rolls will be sold under the archway, the Junior Fire Department will offer hamburgers and hot dogs, the United Church’s bake table will offer pies, quiches, bars, cupcakes and more.
In addition, gently used books will be available and crafts, embroidery, weaving, books, fabric, jewelry, doll clothes will be available at vendor’s stalls during the day. Activities will include making masks and noise-makers at 11 a.m., which will be used for a parking lot parade scheduled for 11:30. Additional activities during the day will include simple wand-making for May fairies, gnomes and other sprites, as well as chalk art, face-painting, and more.
A performance by the Theater at Monmouth of “The Tale of Princess Kaguya” will be presented at noon with free admission for May Faire customers.
