WINTHROP — St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church announced that it has named the Rev. Susan Berry Taylor as the church’s vicar. Taylor officially starts in the job May 1, and her first Sunday as vicar will be May 7. On Sunday, June 25, Taylor will be formally installed as the vicar of St. Andrew’s in a special ceremony led by the Rt. Rev. Stephen T. Lane, the bishop of Maine.
Taylor recently moved to Maine with her husband, Jim, and daughter, Sophie. Until the end of February, she was rector of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Randolph, Vermont. The Taylors originally met in Maine, and are happy to return.
A bi-vocational artist-priest (or priest-artist), Taylor earned an MFA from the Maine College of Art in Portland. She has since had several gallery shows in Vermont and is excited about getting involved with the arts scene in Winthrop and Kennebec County.
Taylor also looks forward to meeting members of the St. Andrew’s community, the Quakers with whom St. Andrew’s shares the historic Friends Meeting House on Route 135, pastors of Winthrop churches, members of the Winthrop Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce, and other neighbors and friends.
