RANGELEY — Registration is open for the Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust Camp EcoVenture. The day camp is for those entering grades one through 10, and is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, beginning July 5 (a Wednesday) and ending Aug. 11. The camp offers free transportation to and from camp; bus stops are listed on the camp’s website.
Each week campers spend their days exploring the natural world, building friendships and developing self-confidence through activities like canoeing, kayaking, hiking, camping and swimming, said a news release from the trust. Campers grade 6 and up will have an opportunity to go on a two-night wilderness camping trip, and fifth-graders on a one-night trip, the release said. Only 10 spots are available for each overnight trip.
The trust will also celebrate two decades of EcoVenture on July 15 Town Cove Park. The Festival in the Park will include free activities for children and families including a barbeque for the first 500 people, a mechanical bull, rock climbing wall, dunk tank and trampolines.
EcoVenture is funded through donations by individuals, members and several foundations, the release said. “Without their support this opportunity for local and visiting campers would not exist. As we plan the 2017 season and beyond, we need your help to keep this positive momentum going.”
