Sixth grade students from Turner Elementary School and Leeds Central School came in first in the spontaneous category and third overall at the state Odyssey of the Mind competition on April 1. It was the first year the team had competed.
For their long-term problem, the team had to perform an original skit that contained an unlikely superhero, a clumsy sidekick, a nemesis that was attempting to stop creativity and numerous other elements, including a choreographed battle and a recycled trash item.
Team members were Mayla Madison, Iris Petrin, Austin Gates, Nola Goodwin, Emma Couturier, Hannah Dowd Pettingill and Austin Poulin. The team was coached by Rachel Madison.
