WINTHROP -The Bailey Public Library will host writer and theater director Caitlin Shetterly at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 25, as part of the ongoing Winthrop Lakes Region Forum.
Shetterly will discuss her book “Modified,” which was named one of Publishers Weekly’s Best Books of 2016, and explores America’s use of GMOs, and her own journey to cut genetically modified corn from her diet. Throughout the journey, Shetterly and her husband became hard-core farmer’s market shoppers and dedicated to community supported agriculture, according to a news release from the library.
Shetterly is a frequent contributor to NPR. She has written for The New York Times, Elle and Oprah.com. She is the founder and artistic director of the Winter Harbor Theatre Company, where she produces and directs works that attempt to tackle the important issues of our time. She lives with her husband, photographer, Daniel E. Davis, their son, and their dog, Hopper.
The event is free and open to the public, and will take place in the lower level King Event Room of the library at 39 Bowdoin St. in downtown Winthrop. For more information, call the library at 377-8673. The forum is sponsored by the Winthrop Public Library Foundation.
