LISBON FALLS — The Androscoggin-Sagadahoc Counties Extension Association will hold its annual meeting and elect new officers at 6 p.m. Monday, May 8, at the University of Maine Cooperative Extension office, 24 Main St. The meeting is open to the public and will include presentations by UMaine extension educators Tori Jackson and Kristy Ouellette, and Extension Eat Well community education assistant Ruth Cyr.
Dinner, which follows the business meeting, will be catered by New Beet Market of Brunswick.
The ASCEA is actively recruiting new members. In partnership with UMaine Extension staff, the members of each county association assists with providing input on local educational programming needs and oversees the county budget appropriations that support extension educational programs for county residents, according to a news release.
The extension conducts “community-driven, research-based programs” in Maine counties and helps “support, sustan and grow the food-based economy,” the release said “It is the only entity in our state that touches every aspect of the Maine food system, where policy research, production, procession, commerce, nutrition and food security and safety are integral and interrelated.” The extension also oversees the state’s 4-H program.
