WILTON — Several programs for those seeking a job or considering a career change will be held at the Wilton CareerCenter in April. Programs include: Vocational Rehabilitation, 9 to 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 6. This is an orientation for people with disabilities who are considering vocational rehabilitation services. Orientations are held the first Thursday of the month. Service providers are also welcome to attend. Registration is not required.
Rumford Area Resume and Interviewing Skills Workshop, 1 to 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 11, at School of Applied Technology, 377 River Road, Mexico. The workshop will cover the basics of resumes and applications, and participants will learn how to market themselves in a way that matches an employer’s needs. Tough interview questions will be discussed, and participants will learn how to field them with confidence. Call 645-5800 to sign up.
Employer Expectations, 1 to 3 p.m., Wednesday, April 12. The workshop will cover creating a great resume, preparing for an interview and preparing for a new job. The workshop, facilitated by Barclaycard US, is not a recruitment effort for Barclaycard US, but is a workshop for people applying for all different types of jobs, according to a news release from the Maine Department of Labor. Essentials of College Planning for Adults. 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, April 20. This workshop introduces people to educational opportunities in general and MEOC services in particular. This interactive workshop touches on the four steps in the college process: admissions, financial aid, career and study skills. The financial aid portion of the workshop will provide an overview of financial basics and the completion of the federal student aid application. Call to pre-register: 1-800-281-3703.
Small Business Training. The Small Business Administration will offer three workshops, Starting Your Own Small Business, Access to Capital and Federal and State Resources for Small Business. Most of these workshops are two hours long. For more information, call Bill Card at 622-8555.
