BRIDGTON – New England Donor Services will hold a community education session about organ, eye, and tissue donation at Bridgton Hospital from 1:15 to 2 p.m., on Wednesday, April 5.
More than 120,000 people are on the transplant wait list, and every day 21 people die waiting for a transplant, according to a news release from the hospital. The need for organ, eye and tissue donation is never-ending and becoming a donor is a great way to save lives, the release said.
The class will cover how to register to be a donor, statistics, legalities, what can be donated, who can donate, myths and facts about donation and family support. It will be held in the large board room at the hospital, 10 Hospital Drive.
To register, email Nancy Murphy at murphyna@cmhc.org. Space is limited to 14 attendees.
