Maine author Padian to lead teen discussion on relationships at Auburn Public Library

AUBURN — Maine author Maria Padian will lead a discussion about teen relationship issues as part of Auburn Public Library’s Teen Life Skills series.
Padian, in recognition of Sexual Assault Prevention Awareness Month, will discuss her book “Wrecked,” from 3 to 4 p.m., Thursday, April 13. “Wrecked,” takes place on the campus of McCallum College and tells the story of two freshmen roommates, Haley and Jenny. Jenny accuses a resident of Conundrum House of rape after a party, and there are many different versions of the incident.

“A kaleidoscopic view of a sexual assault on a college campus, ‘Wrecked’ will leave readers thinking about how memory and identity, what’s at stake, and who sits in judgment shape what we all decide to believe about the truth,” Padian says on her website.

Also joining the discussion will be community educators Whitney Parrish from Safe Voices and Hannah Johnson from the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Services.

The event free and open to ages 12 to 21, and will be held in the Teen Space.
