LEWISTON — The 2017 Multiple Sclerosis Walk will be held on Saturday, April 29, beginning at 9 a.m. with registration in the Lewiston High School gym. The walk begins at 10 a.m., a later start time than it’s been in the past, organizers noted in a news release.
The 5-mile course goes through the Bates College area. Shorter routes are also available.
Doughnuts and a light lunch will be provided to participants, as well as refreshments throughout the walk route, with food donated by local businesses. Door prizes and raffle prizes will also be handed out, with raffle tickets available for purchase at the walk.
Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic central nervous system disease that affects more than 400 families in Androscoggin County and 3,000 families in the state, according to the news release. There is no cure or known cause of the disease, and money raised by the walk goes to research and advocacy.
