Naples Public Library offers substance abuse, caregiving discussions in April

NAPLES — The Naples Public Library has a full slate of April events scheduled.

Local health professionals, counselors and neighbors will be on hand for Substance Abuse Conversation discussion and question and answers from 6–8 p.m., Wednesday, April 5. The session is hosted by the Lake Region Substance Abuse Coalition and is open to the public.

The Southern Maine Agency on Aging will present a Savvy Caregiver course for family caregivers of people with dementia, where they can gain knowledge, skills and stress reduction techniques. Classes are 1–3 p.m. Tuesdays, beginning April 25 through May 30 and it’s important to attend all six classes, according to the library news release. Pregegistration is required. In other April events, those who wish to learn to play mah jongg can participate from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mondays from April 3 through April 24. Cost for the series is $10 and the group is limited to 12. To register call 693-6841. Students also must order a 2017 rule card from www.nationalmahjonggleague.org. Standard size are $8, large are $9.

The Scrabble group will meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday April 12 and 26 (the second and fourth Wednesday of the month).

The Knitting Group meets at 2 p.m. every Wednesday.

Storytimes for April are at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdsay with family storytime; Thursday with musical storytime, Read to Bear the therapy dog at 4:30 p.m. on Thursdays, and pajama storytime at 6 p.m. on Thursdays.
