Although our community has many valuable programs, such as food pantries, free community dinners, and Gardener’s Growing Healthy Communities during harvest months, there are days of the week when none of these is an option, and we at the Paris Town Office really hate to turn hungry people away, especially those with children. We like to keep a stock of nonperishable food items as well as basic toiletry items on hand at the town office for those times when there are no other alternatives, such as nights and weekends when no local agencies are open.
Our cupboard is currently quite bare, so we are asking for donations to stock our shelf. We are grateful for your donations, which go directly to the Paris person or family in their time of need, so we can all know in our hearts that no Paris adult or child goes hungry or wanting for the most basic necessities. Shared from Paris Public Library: We are excited to announce a new program beginning Saturday, April 1, called “52 Weeks of Giving.” We will be partnering with the Norway Memorial Library, the Harrison Village Library, and Hamlin Memorial Library in hosting this program for the next year. Each week, one of these four libraries will offer an opportunity to give back to your community; either locally, on a state-wide level, nationally, or even internationally. This program is open to all ages and we encourage anyone and everyone to participate. There will be weekly Facebook updates throughout the year-long program featuring each week’s cause or project.
