MONMOUTH — Volunteers from the Monmouth Weekend Backpack Program are sending thanks to the community members supporting their efforts.
Serving, at this time, 22 families in the Monmouth Schools from pre-kindergarten to grade 8, Monmouth’s Weekend BackPack Program provides nutritional items for students in need to take home with them on the weekend, when school meals are not available. The program survives wholly on donations, including hot cereal, cold individual boxes, peanut butter, grape jelly in a plastic container, soups with easy to open lids (no creamed soups please), granola bars and/or snack bars, as well as cash donations.
Anyone wishing to contribute to this ongoing endeavor is welcome to bring donations to the school’s central offices. For more information, contact Principal Deborah Emery at H.L Cottrell School, 933-4426.
