LEWISTON — Emelia Doyon of Greene, who recently turned 3, presented the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society with donations she received for her birthday. Emelia asked for donations for the pets in lieu of birthday gifts, generously donating pet food, treats, toys and cleaning supplies to help with the care of the thousands of unwanted animals the GA Humane Society helps each year.
The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society, 55 Strawberry Ave., provides a safe haven for more than 4,500 sick, homeless and abused animals in the greater Androscoggin area per year. The primary support for the shelter comes from fundraising events and donations of concerned citizens.
Anyone interested in learning more about volunteering at the shelter or adopting an animal may call 783-2311 or visit the website at www.SavingPetsInMaine.org. You can also join them at www.facebook/GAHumane.
