AUBURN — The First Universalist Church, Unitarian Universalist, will hold an “adoption and hosting” informational session in conjunction with Adoption Partners of Maine Sat, March 18, from 1-3 p.m. There is no fee for this event.
Anyone considering opening their home through hosting, student exchange or adoption may find the prospectof experience both exciting and overwhelming. Penny Collins, Adoption Director at Adoption Partners of Maine, will lead an educational discussion on adoption, the differences between adoption and hosting, and factors families should consider before undertaking a hosting program or adoption process. Collins will also provide related Maine resources.
Tricia McBride from Greanheart International, locally know as the Center for Cultural Interchange, works to recruit families to host students for an academic school year. She will be available to speak with those interested in student exchange programs and answer questions regarding the challenges of hosting students from other cultures.
This is a family friendly event, so children will be able to learn about and create Ukrainian craft projects. First Universalist Church of Auburn is located at 169 Pleasant St. (across from Dairy Joy). There is plenty of parking available. FMI: email pffloyd@gmail.com.
