TURNER — The Turner Public Library is hosting several events in coming weeks to showcase its offerings, including its first-ever Game Day, a free concert and a fly fishing workshop. Game Day will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 18, where visitors can explore some of the games that have contributed to the revival of tabletop games that is sweeping the world, according to a news release from the library that stressed the library is about more than just books.
Participants can learn to play card games like Munchkin, board games like Elder Sign and Settlers of Catan, and old favorites like mah jongg, or can bring a favorite game to share. The event is free and open to all ages. The following Saturday, the library will feature the musical duo Darlin’ Corey, with Erica Brown and Matt Shipma as part of its promotion of the library’s musical collection and makers’ space.
Brown and Shipman play bluegrass, old-time, folk and original songs. The free concert starts at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 25 in the community room at the library. Local fly-fishing maven Jamie Juntera will lead a workshop at 6 p.m., Wednesday, April 5. The event is free, but limited to 10 particpants. Reserve a place by contacting the library at 225-2030.
