OQUOSSOC — Despite unseasonably warm weather, hundreds came by snowmobile, car and truck to watch the Winter Fly-In at Bald Mountain Camps on Mooselookmeguntic Lake Feb. 25.

Those who flocked to the camps pilots from as far away as Maryland fly in got to see only one plane, though, that of the camp’s owner, Stephen Philbrick. High fog and low cloud ceilings discouraged other pilots from as far away as Maryland from coming to Oquossoc.

By midday, the 4,000-foot runway carved out of the snow on the lake was a bit sloshy as it melted, but food, music and beverages kept everyone in good spirits.
