FARMINGTON — A monthly support group for anyone with diabetes or who supports a person with diabetes will begin at the end of March and run through September at Franklin Memorial Hospital.
Meetings will be from 4-5 p.m. the last Thursday of the month in the Allen Room at the hospital. Led by type 1 diabetic and diabetes advocate Jim Cockerham, the sessions will cover a variety of diabetes-related topics.
The schedule is: March 30, Describing the diabetes disease process and treatment options; April 27, Incorporating nutritional management into lifestyle; May 25, Incorporating physical activity into lifestyle; June 29, Using medication safely and for maximum therapeutic effectiveness; July 27, Monitoring blood glucose and using the results for self-management decision making; Aug. 31, Preventing, detecting, and treating acute & chronic complications; Sept. 28, Developing personal strategies to promote health and behavior change.
