Moore honored by Bird Dog Hall of Fame

RANGELEY — Dick Moore, of Dallas Plantation, received a Lifetime Patrons Award from the Bird Dog Hall of Fame at the group’s annual award ceremony in Grand Junction, Tenn.

Both individuals and their dogs are honoroed, and Moore was nominated by the Central Maine Spaniel Club, according to a news release from the Rangeley Region Guides & Sportsmens Association.

Moore has had a love of hunting dogs since childhood, but has always been partial to the English springer spaniel, and is “a well known and respected field trial judge,” according to the release. “Dick’s philosophy on judging, especially hunt tests, is, ‘I strive to create a pleasant, friendly environment for the handlers. They need to know I am there to help them learn. I promise no “gifts,” just a fair and balanced assessment of their dogs and their handling ability. Over time, seeing an improved working team is one of my most gratifying rewards,’ ” the release said.

Moore is a longtime member of the RRG &SA and is on the board of directors.
