LEWISTON — American Legion Post 22 is sponsoring a week-long display of the Silhouette Project, which brings awareness to the issue of armed service member suicide. The project will be on display the week of April 17 at Lewiston-Auburn College, University of Southern Maine, on Westminster Street.
It includes life-size silhouettes of 22 service members who have committed suicide. Each silhouette has a message and picture. Gov. Paul LePage, University of Southern Maine President Glenn Cummings, Auburn Mayor Jonathan LaBonte and Lewiston Mayor Robert MacDonald will participate in a noon ribbon-cutting at the exhibit on Monday, April 17. The ribbon-cutting and exhibition are open to the public.
