1931-2017
RIVERVIEW, FL — George L. Jacobs, 85, of Greene and Riverview, FL died Thursday at his home in Florida. Born Aug. 22, 1931 in Livermore Falls, to Ruth Lillian Wright and Mural Davis Jacobs, George married the love of his life, Patricia Myrtie Hutchinson, June 30, 1956.
George served in the infantry in the Army during the Korean War, earning the Korean Service Medal, Bronze Service Stars, United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He completed a Master’s Degree in education from the University of Maine Orono in 1960 and spent nearly 40 years as both a physics teacher and science department head at Lewiston High School. George was a dedicated 33rd degree Mason for 49 years, a member of the Scottish Rite and Kora Temple Shrine.
George will be dearly missed by his wife of 60 years, Patricia; son George Jacobs and companion Robin Bachant; daughter Sonia Bussiere and husband Maurice; and son Gerald Jacobs and wife Tammy; his brother Llewellyn Francis and wife Helen; and his sister Joyce Andrews. George had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and his stepfather, Harry Francis.
