LEWISTON – On Saturday, Feb. 11, Community Credit Union hosted a Poker Run event in Androscoggin County to raise money for the Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger. Participants traveled to local partnering businesses throughout Lewiston, Sabattus, Turner, Leeds and Greene that were noted as “Poker Stops” to get their card stamped and then based on the number of stops that were visited, the participant was dealt a poker hand at Reggie’s Kawasaki Ski-Doo in Leeds, where the actual event was held.
With the proceeds from the poker hands dealt and the local businesses who graciously sponsored the event, a total of $2,310 was raised for the Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger which will be donated to organizations in Androscoggin County who are working to end hunger.
At the conclusion of the event, prize for Best Hand was awarded to Jeremy Lowe, second prize Best Hand to Jim L’Italien, third prize Best Hand to Sue Robinson and Worst Hand to Mike LeClair.
