NORWAY – Happi Chicks Bake Shop invites the community to show its support for Shona Gonsalves who was recently diagnosed with cancer. A fundraiser for Shona will be held on Saturday, March 11, at Dena’s Lobster House and Tavern, 765 Roosevelt Trail in Windham. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the band, Northern Groove, will begin playing at 8:30 p.m.
Up until her diagnosis, Gonsalves was busily helping with the baking at the Happi Chicks Bake Shop on Main Street in Norway. Gonsalves has been undergoing surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatments and now Christina Bigelow, of Happi Chicks Bake Shop, and friends, are joining forces to lend a hand with Gonsalves’s medical expenses. Said Bigelow, “We are hosting this fundraiser so that Shona and her family can focus on what is important at this time – her recovery and time spent together.” Her husband is self-employed and is doing his best to balance work, doctors’ appointments and the parenting of their three children.
Gonsalves grew up in New Gloucester, Maine and has been living in the South Paris area for many years. She is quite the baker and has been seen at the Happi Chicks Bake Shop covered in flour and sporting a beautiful smile!
There will be a 50/50 raffle and prizes, as well as T-shirts, bracelets and koozies for sale. For more information or to donate gift certificates, services, prizes or money for this event, contact Christina Bigelow of Happi Chicks Bake Shop at 207-595-1204 or stop in at Happi Chicks Bake Shop at 434 Main Street, Norway.
