‘Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age’ to be screened at Auburn library March 9

AUBURN – The Auburn Public Library invites the public to a special screening of _Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age_. This event will take place in the Androscoggin Community Room at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 9.

Directed by Delaney Ruston, a physician and parent of teenagers, “_SCREENAGERS …_takes a deeply personal approach … into the vulnerable corners of family life … to explore struggles over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Through poignant, and unexpectedly funny stories, along with surprising insights from authors, psychologists, and brain scientists, _SCREENAGERS r_eveals how tech time impacts kids’ development and offers solutions on how adults can empower kids to best navigate the digital world and find balance.” _(from screenagersmovie.com)_

Following the movie, which has a runtime of 68 minutes, stay for a short panel discussion that will last 20 to 30 minutes, featuring Anita Charles, lecturer/director of Secondary Teacher Education at Bates College; Justin Richardson, a member of the Auburn Police Department and School Resource Officer at Edward Little High School; and Luke Douglass, interim director of Counseling and Psychological Services at Bates College.

This screening is free to the public, open to tweens and teens, their parents, and anyone who works with tweens and teens, and is made possible by a grant from the Maine Public Library Fund and the Psychology Department at Bates College.
