Higgins promoted to Lewiston’s deputy police chief

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Police Department has a new deputy chief. Police Chief Brian O’Malley has promoted Adam D. Higgins, a member of the department since January 1990.

Mayor Robert E. Macdonald noted: “Adam will be a tremendous complement to our new police Chief Brian O’Malley, and I look forward to the expertise and skill set that he brings to this position. Lewiston is very fortunate to have such outstanding police leadership.”
Higgins has served as a police officer, community resource officer, agent on the Central Maine Violent Crime Task Force, detective, patrol sergeant and sergeant of detectives and as a lieutenant for the last seven years. He has served as interim deputy chief for the last seven months.

Higgins has an associate of science degree in law enforcement technology from Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute (now known as Southern Maine Community College) and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va.

In addition, he has completed the staff and command training program at Roger Williams University, R.I. Higgins has also been a member of the Lewiston Police Honor Guard for the last 27 years and has served as the department’s defensive tactics and Taser instructor.

City Administrator Edward A.
