‘Earth’s Future’ event to be held at armory Feb. 5

AUGUSTA – A hands-on, community-wide event called, “Earth’s Future is in Our Hands,” will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, at the Buker Community Center, 22 Armory Street in Augusta.

Sponsored by the Unitarian Universalist Community Church of Augusta, the event will focus on what we can do as individuals and families to protect our environment.

The event will include an interactive photography program called, “Nature Up Close and Personal,” as well as a program produced by young people, “The Importance of Bees.” Other programs include, “Solar and Other Renewables,” and “Energy Saving Programs We Can Use.” For younger children there will be a workshop on reusable crafts.

“We hope this event will be a conversation in our Augusta/Waterville community about what we can do to save energy and better protect the earth,” said Rev. Carie Johnsen, minister.
