BETHEL The Mahoosuc Land Trust’s 2017 speaker series continues with a historical and photo tour of several unique and beautiful places in Greenwood and Woodstock.
Beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, at Gould Academy’s McLaughlin Auditorium on Church St. in Bethel, Jane Chandler will share her knowledge and love of the beauties of this corner of Maine, places where, as Chandler says, one need not “spend all day or climb to 4,000 feet to get great views.”
Where are these places? The cliffs of Buck’s Ledge can be seen from Route 26. Maggie’s Nature Park is off the Greenwood Road and offers hikes for all abilities year round. Bald and Speckled Mountains are part of the trail system that starts at Little Concord Pond. Overset Pond has a series of connected trails along the Sanborn River and up Overset Mountain. All of these have public access and some have been protected.
