TWEENS IN THE TEEN SPACE,WEDNESDAYS, FEB. 1, 8 AND 15, 12 TO 2 P.M., TEEN SPACE
Tweens (who are in sixth grade) are invited to join us in the Teen Space on the second floor on half-day Wednesdays. We’ll have crafts or board games available or you can stop by to simply hang out or to get a head start on your homework!

TEEN ANIME CLUB,WEDNESDAY, FEB. 1, 4 TO 5 P.M., ANDROSCOGGIN COMMUNITY ROOM
Get animated over anime! Teens, ages 12 to 18, can drop in to talk about their favorite (or least favorite) manga, watch this week’s selection of anime, and try your hand at drawing your own characters. This program was made possible by a generous gift of the P&G Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation and will include a snack.

TEEN LIFE SKILLS: HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS, THURSDAYS, FEB. 2, 9 AND 16, 3 TO 4 P.M., TEEN SPACE
February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. In recognition of this important annual event, schools and teen centers all over the country are participating in special activities. Whitney Parrish, the Androscoggin County Community Educator for Safe Voices, will be at APL on these dates for a fun game or activity centered around dating and healthy relationships. There will be snacks, candy and prizes. Come join us!Just for teens, ages 12 to 18.
AUTHOR VISIT BY MARIA PADIAN: “WRECKED,” THURSDAY, FEB. 23, 3 TO 4 P.M., ANDROSCOGGIN COMMUNITY ROOM
To further bring awareness to and continue the conversation on Healthy Relationships, this week, we are pleased to welcome Maine author Maria Padian. She will join us to read an excerpt from her newest book, Wrecked, and lead a discussion about issues of consent in relationships. Also joining us for this discussion will be community educators Whitney Parrish from Safe Voices and Hannah Johnson from the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Services.
TEENS! FRIDAY MOVIE: “PRETTY IN PINK,” FRIDAY, FEB. 3, 3 TO 5 P.M., ANDROSCOGGIN COMMUNITY ROOM
Join us in the Androscoggin Community Room on the first Friday of each month to relax and enjoy a movie! Since February brings us Valentine’s Day, the teens have requested “Pretty in Pink.” The movie is a 1986 comedy drama starring Molly Ringwald as Andie Walsh, a teenager who lives on the “dingy” side of town. When she falls for rich boy Blaine (Andrew McCarthy), she realizes her best friend Duckie (Jon Cryer) is madly in love with her. With whom will she end up? Join us for this fun movie! This program is just for teens, ages 12 to 18, and will include a snack!
GAMING HOUR, WEDNESDAY, FEB. 8, 4 TO 5 P.M., ANDROSCOGGIN COMMUNITY ROOM
Take a break from studying and stop by the Androscoggin Room on lower level for video games and snacks. We have XBox and Wii and a small collection of games. Teens are welcome to bring their favorites, but only those rated T and E. Just for teens, ages 12 to 18, this program was made possible by donations from the P&G Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation and the law firm of Norman, Hanson and DeTroy.
TEENS! SNACK CHAT! MONDAYS, FEB. 13 AND 27, 3 TO 4 P.M., TEEN SPACE
Join us in the Teen Space twice a month to enjoy a healthy after school snack and engage in some enlightening conversation about current events. This program is provided by support from Jim Pittman of Jim’s Auto Sales and is just for teens, ages 12 to 18.
MAINE JOB CORPS, WEDNESDAY, FEB. 15, 10 TO 11 A.M., CONFERENCE ROOM
Teens and New Adults! If you had the opportunity to take part in a life-changing experience that gave you the skills you need to succeed in today’s job market, and it didn’t cost anything, would you be interested? If so, the Job Corps may be for you! Join us today when Hanya Phillips of the Maine Job Corps visits to explain how the program works and who is eligible. TEENS! DIY TAKEOVER: MUG CAKES! WEDNESDAY, FEB. 15, 4 TO 5 P.M., TEEN SPACE
Join us in the Teen Space on the third Wednesday of each month for a do-it-yourself craft! Some of the things we’ve done include duct tape crafts, zen gardens and sugar scrubs, just to name a few! This month, we’ll be making mug cakes! So that we have enough supplies, registration is requested; please visit the events page on our website or give us a call. Those who have preregistered will get priority.
TEENS! DISCOVERIES IN STEM, THURSDAY, FEB. 16, 4 TO 5 P.M., TEEN SPACE
Teens! Come join Maisy Cyr of 4H and discover how you really do use science, technology and math outside of the classroom! We may dabble in food science, animal science, simple machinery and technology, or just make some crazy creations. All you need to bring are some big ideas and an open mind. Together, let’s see what we can come up with! This program is just for teens, ages 12 to 18.
DIY TEENS! MEDIA CLUB, WEDNESDAY, FEB. 22, 4 TO 5 P.M., CREATE! MEDIA LAB Movies! Music! Graphic arts! If you can imagine it, you can create it in our Media Lab. Teens, ages 12 to 18, can join our Media Club. This month, we’ll put to use the things we learned in our Green Screen workshop in January!
APL FARMER’S MARKET, FRIDAY, FEB. 24, 4:30 TO 6:30 P.M.
The Auburn Public Library invites all ages to one of their biggest family events of the year. Join us for our annual Indoor Farmers Market. This family event includes lots of great vendors with a culinary delight of homegrown and homemade foods and treats, plus live music, animals, crafts, a basket making demonstration and exhibits. The festive event includes a live acoustic performance by Aaron Wardwell and a new exhibit examining Maine folk fiber arts.
TEEN LIFE SKILLS 2017: 10 TIPS FOR TEENS BY HEALTHY ANDROSCOGGIN, TUESDAYS, FEB. 28 (1), MAR. 28 (2) AND APR. 25 (3), 3 TO 4 P.M., ANDROSCOGGIN COMMUNITY ROOM
The first in a series of three classes, 10 Tips for Teens is where you’ll learn how to add more fruits and veggies to your day while learning basic cooking skills. We will make and EAT a recipe each class and play games (with prizes)! Join Missy from Healthy Androscoggin for this series, which is just for teens ages 12 to 18.
