OXFORD — The Oxford Hills Duplicate bridge club met at 9:15 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, in the Oxford Recreation Building on King Street. A 5½-table Howell movement was enjoyed.
Finishing first in flight A were Denny Raymond (Waterford) and Jim Dickens (Naples), who also were first in flights B and C. Tied for second and third in A were Neanie Kivus (Lewiston) and Clare Lyons (Lewiston), with Dick Allen (New Gloucester) and Pete Cummings (South Paris); fourth were Arlen Riis (West Paris) and Elaine Dresser (Bethel), who were second in flights B and C; third in B were Cynthia and Bill Clifford Jr. (Lewiston); fourth were Milt McKeen Jr. (Bridgton ) and Jim Krainin (Naples). Third in C were B.J. and Steve Cavicchi (Bridgton).
Next Friday there will be another game, same place and time, weather permitting. A partner is always guaranteed. If Oxford Hills High School is closed for weather, then bridge is also canceled.

This week’s bridge tip: Rule of 17. Response to partner’s opening of a major-suit weak two bid: in your hand add up all your high-card points plus your number of trumps. If this total adds up to 17 or more, bid game! Use your judgement. Good luck.
