LEWISTON — Thanks to the staff at the Hammond Tractor Co. in Auburn, on Dec. 13 the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society was presented with a $1,200 donation.
Many years ago, the Hammond Tractor employees and owners decided that in lieu of Christmas gifts for the employees, a donation would be made to a local nonprofit. Each Hammond Tractor location is responsible for choosing the designated local nonprofit.
The GAHS provides a safe haven for more than 4,500 sick, homeless and abused animals in the greater Androscoggin area per year. The primary support for the shelter comes from fundraising events and donations of concerned citizens.
