Local fisherman catches fish of a lifetime in Livermore

Jan. 182017

Jeff Scammon, of Auburn, caught the fish of a lifetime while ice fishing at Brettun’s Pond in Livermore on Saturday, Jan. 14, a bitterly cold and windy day. The brown trout weighed 4.5 pounds and was 24 inches in length.

Scammon brought the trout to a taxidermist who noted the fish was a once-in-a-lifetime catch. Brettun’s Pond is located at the intersection of routes 4 and 108. The 165-acre pond has an average depth of 15 feet and its deepest spot is 50 feet. Several streams and springs feed into the pond. Submitted photo.
