Snodeo takes off at Rangeley Lakes

RANGELEY LAKES — The Rangeley Lakes Snowmobile Club’s annual Snodeo will take place Jan. 19 to 21.

Events start with the Chili-Chowder Cook-off sponsored by the Rangeley Lakes Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, Jan. 19, at the Gingerbread House in Oquossoc, followed by the RLSC casino night starting at 7 p.m. at Bald Mountain Camps in Oquossoc.

The annual live auction featuring Larry Koob at Snodeo Headquarters Moose Alley will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday. All proceeds from the auction directly go to the grooming operations for the RLSC.

Friday Jan. 20, starts the return of Rock Maple Racing Cross- Country Race and the Pro-Vintage Championships with registration at Steven Bean Municipal Airport at 6:30 p.m. Preregistration available online at rockmapleracing.com and provintagechampionship.com.

Saturday, Jan. 21, is filled with events for all ages. Manufacturer demos at participating dealers and Dom’s Auto Main Street will be doing MotoTrax demos. The Gingerbread House will be hosting a gingerbreadman-making contest, and Sno source will have marshmallows roasting next to Haley Pond. Harrison Family Riders will be hosting the Radar Runs this year on Haley Pond. Sign-up will be at Haley Pond starting at 8 a.m.

The race event will be held at the Stephen A. Bean Municipal Airport on Saturday. The Rock Maple cross-country race will be a 5-mile event, and the Pro-Vintage (Vintage & 120cc) will be 1/3mile track. Gates open at 6:30 a.m. for racers and 8 a.m. for the public. Ticket prices are $10 per person, with children under 12 free. Parking is free.

Vendors will be set up in a heated hanger area adjacent to the race. Our current vendors are Bald Mountain Camps, Hight Ford & Chevy, Boss Power Equipment, Oquossoc Marine and Backwoods BMP.
