OXFORD — Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met at 9:15 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, in the Recreation Building on King Street. A 9-and-½ table Mitchell movement was enjoyed.
Finishing first N/S in flight A were Dot Kelleher (Westbrook) and Paul Kahl (Gorham); second were Marta Clements (Woodstock) and Dick Allen (New Gloucester); third were Eleanor and Lindy Wigton (Lewiston), who also were first in flight B; fourth in A were Mike Quinn (Otisfield) and MikeTrue (Auburn); second in B were Karen Mac Neill (Baldwin) and Barbara Vanderzander (Waterford), who also were first in flight C; fourth in B were Linda Smith and Jack Neal (Oxford), who also were second in C; third in B were Cynthia and Bill Clifford Jr. (Lewiston); third in C were Julie Stewart(Auburn) and Laurie Steele (Texas); fourth in C were Cindy and Bob Kirchherr (Norway).
Finishing first in flight A E/W were Elaine Dresser (Bethel) and Arlen Riis (West Paris), who also were first in flights B and C; second in A were Norma and Rick Verrill (Gorham), who also were second in flight B; third in A were Rosemarie Goodwin (Lewiston) and Luke Merry (Norway); fourth were Misha Tomic (Waterford) and Fred Letourneau (Winslow); third in B were Milt Mckeen Jr. (Bridgton) and Jim Krainin (Naples), who also were second in C; fourth in B and C were B.J. and Steve Cavicchi (Bridgton).

This week’s bridge tip: Rule of 22 (really just a guide) this is designed for players who believe in light opening bids. It is a way of determining whether particular hands should be opened. Add your high card points to the combined length of the two longest suits. Always open if the total is 22 or more. Never open with 19 or fewer points. Open with 20 or 21 if the hand has two defensive tricks. Good luck.
