RAYMOND — Four years ago Loon Echo Land Trust and the Raymond Conservation Commission first proposed their land conservation project, The Raymond Community Forest, 356 acres of land in North Raymond located on Conesca Road, including much of Pismire Mountain and a large forested parcel beside Crescent Lake, is now a reality.
Recreational opportunities at the Raymond Community Forest include hiking, cross country skiing/snowshoeing, mountain biking and the continuation of traditional uses such as hunting. Now that the land is permanently conserved it will offer long-term multiple benefits back to the community such as protection of the quality of Raymond’s waterways, wildlife and exceptional views to and from Pismire Mountain.
We will meet at the LOON ECHO LAND TRUST PARKING LOT on Conesca Road in North Raymond at noon Saturday, Dec. 17, to celebrate the opening with a ribbon cutting and toast to the trails. Please join us.
