TURNER — Turner Museum and Historical Association will have an open house during the Turner Public Library’s Winter Festival from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, on the fourth floor at the Leavitt Institute.
The living room exhibit will feature an old-fashioned Christmas tree circled by a train. There will be gifts from Santa. Children are invited to participate in a coloring contest and construction of old-fashioned tree garlands. The association will be conducting a raffle during those hours for a Lionel four-piece G gauge Christmas train set with four cars and 10 feet of track that is sure to bring a warm smile to the winner.
The museum has an exhibit of the Auburn-Turner railroad that operated from the village circa 1905, purported to be the only municipal railroad in Maine at the time. The cars hauled apples, lumber, woolen products and passengers. Please join us. This is a great opportunity to introduce children to the style of holiday celebrations of years gone by.
