LEWISTON – Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice has been named a Top Agency of the 2016 HomeCare Elite, signifying the agency as one of the top performers in home health in the United States, according to a news release from AHCH. It’s the fourth year the hospice has earned the distinction.
HomeCare Elite annually identifies the top 25 percent of Medicare-certified agencies. It also highlights the top 100 and top 500 agencies overall.
“This recognition is a tribute to our hard-working staff as well as our commitment to continuously improve the patient experience,” said Kenneth Albert, AHCH’s president and CEO. “Our patients have come to expect high quality, compassionate care from our agency, and we are pleased that this independent, data-driven review from a nationally respected organization shows that we continue to meet these expectations.”
“Improving quality of care and the patient experience continue to underpin a rapidly evolving healthcare environment,” said Christine Lang, senior director, product management, for ABILITY Network, which administers the rankings. “At the same time tracking, measuring and interpreting data that support these efforts is becoming more complex. The 2016 HomeCare Elite winners have demonstrated the highest-quality care in their communities, which is a remarkable achievement. We congratulate Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice on being one of the top home care agencies in the country.”
Winners are ranked by an analysis of publicly available performance measures in quality outcomes, implementation of practices that have been proven successful, patient experience, quality improvement, consistency and financial performance. In order to be considered, an agency must be Medicare-certified. It must also have data for at least one outcome in Home Health Compare, a tool designed for consumers to use when evaluating provider quality.
Marci Heydt, senior content manager, DecisionHealth, praised AHCH and all award winners. “We are proud to recognize the HomeCare Elite agencies for demonstrating a commitment to improving quality patient care at low costs. The clinical best practices and data tracking skills these agencies have implemented can position them for future success in government programs such as value-based purchasing and star ratings,” said Heydt.
