Accommodating employee illnesses and disabilities program offered

Jun. 152017

LEWISTON — The Central Maine Human Resources Association is putting on a program about how to handle employee requests for accommodations Tuesday, June 20, at 7:45 a.m. at the Carriage House, 1119 Lisbon St. You do not need to be an HR person to benefit from the information!

For example, are you wondering what to do when an employee is out on leave and wants to come back but needs accommodations? How do you handle requests for supervisor changes, scheduling changes, reassignments, job modifications and vague doctor’s notes? Could you use some practical tips for managing employees who go out on medical leave when confronted with performance issues or suggest a medical issue caused their misconduct or under performance? Attorney Maria Fox of Mittel Asen will be going into the nitty-gritty of the ADA and MHRA disability laws and regulations and how to avoid risk of claims and complaints.

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., and there will be time to network before and after the program Registration on line is preferred and available at www.cmhra.org.

Questions about membership should be directed to Cindy Letourneau or Lori McRae at membershipchair@cmhra.org.

Feel free to submit questions in advance to Rebecca Webber, CMHRA President: rwebber@sta-law.com.
