LEWISTON – Andrea Berry, executive director of Wild Seed Project, will be the speaker at the Thursday, April 20, Great Falls Forum lecture.
The talk is from noon to 1 at Callahan Hall, Lewiston Public Library, 200 Lisbon St., and is free and open to the public. It will also be available live on the library’s Facebook page and Zoom.
Wild Seed Project is a Maine-based nonprofit organization that works to inspire communities to make a difference by planting native seeds. The organization believes that planting native plants, grown from seed, is both the recipe and the process of creating tangible change. Communities repopulate landscapes with the plants that expand wildlife habitat, support biodiversity, and build climate resilience.
Berry will discuss the how-tos of conservation through community, including action that everyone can take in order to re-establish resilient landscapes. Berry joined Wild Seed Project in 2021 following six years as director of community engagement at Maine Initiatives. She is on the board of directors at Southern Maine Conservation Collaborative and Resources for Organizing and Social Change, and recently was elected to the North Yarmouth select board, where she is leading community-driven efforts around land conservation and environmental stewardship.
The Zoom link will be posted to the library website and Facebook before the event. The onsite program is a bring-your-own brown-bag lunch.
