NORWAY – The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine is offering some special programs in the coming weeks.
Programs are open to anyone impacted by cancer – patients, survivors and caregivers. Those attending in-person programs are required to wear a mask. Classes are held at the center, 59 Winter St., as well as other locations, where noted.
Stress – A New Perspective, will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, or 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 9. Christopher and Paula Easton will lead an in-person class on managing stress, including linkages associated with stress in day-to-day lives, ways to recognize relationships with each stressor, and tools to reframe that relationship. Free; registration is required.
Stamping Up! – Make Beautiful Greeting Cards is offered 1-2:30 pm. Monday, April 3. Instructor Cathy Pulsifer will help attendees make greeting cards to take home. Free, but space is limited, so signup is required. Materials are provided. The class is held the first Monday of every month.
A new cancer support group meets the second and fourth Friday of the month at Sacopee Valley Health Center, in Porter, an initiative of The Grateful Undead, in collaboration with SVHC and sponsored by the Cancer Resource Center. The Grateful Undead is a nonprofit organization that provides programs and services to support older adults living in southwestern Maine. For information, call Marianne Wyer at 207-749-0392.
Weekly public drop in is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, at the center, with appointments available on other days.
Weekly online classes include “Mind full of Good” meditation and “A Mindful Hour” – mindful-based stress reduction.
Weekly in-person classes include Chair Yoga in Bridgton, Strength & Balance for Cancer Wellness in South Paris, Craft & Chat and Chair Yoga in Norway.
The Women’s Support Group and Coffee Hour is 10:30 a.m.-noon the third Wednesday of the month at the center. No registration needed. For information, call Barb Perry at 207-890-0205.
