Readfield Play Group is every Thursday at RES

READFIELD – The Readfield Elementary School Breakfast Room Play Group has been revived.
The toddlers and preschoolers enjoy seeing the older children and all have been very polite and curious in welcoming us to their school, those in charge of the effort say.
The group meets from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Readfield Elementary School. All are welcome. (The group won’t meet April 20, vacation week).
Despite snowstorms, school delays, and February vacation, the group met five times in January and February, when 19 children and 23 caregivers took part. The range of ages was six months to four years. Towns represented included Augusta, Manchester, Mount Vernon, Readfield, Wayne, and Winthrop.
The goal is to offer children a chance to interact and play freely. Songs, stories, finger plays and crafts are offered, as well as ride-on vehicles, different types of building blocks, cars, and toys. Sharing is a difficult concept, but one children learn by experience usually after age three. Two-year-olds are often not ready, which is why we have lots of cars, trucks, and things that move.
Another program goal is to offer caregivers a chance to talk with each other and play with their children.
