Two early spring hikes hosted by Loon Echo Land Trust

BRIDGTON – Loon Echo Land Trust is hosting a spring equinox hike as well as a walk to identify invasive pests in the coming week.
On Monday, March 20, a spring equinox hike will begin at 4:45 p.m., with plans to reach the Bald Pate Mountain summit by 5:24 p.m., which is when the equinox takes place.
Participants may bring a favorite spring quote or poem to share. Also bring a flashlight or headlamp, and snowshoes or traction devices if needed.
At 10 a.m. Friday, March 25, an invasive pest training walk will take place at Tiger Hill Community Forest, in Sebago. Walkers will search for signs of invasive pests in the first of a monthly walk series to bolster individuals’ ability to monitor for invasive pests like Emerald Ash Borer and Hemlock Wooly Adelgid.

Snowshoes are available to borrow, free of charge, for all events.
