LEWISTON – Lewiston Public Library will host a program on the state’s loons from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, March 29, in Callahan Hall at the library, 200 Lisbon St.
The program will be presented by Maine Audubon Society staff and is free and open to the public.
The common loon is one of Maine’s most iconic species for good reason. An inhabitant of clear, remote, northern lakes, loons are found in more lakes in Maine than in any other New England state. For the last 35 years, Maine Audubon has coordinated an annual loon count, using the skills of more than 1,000 volunteers.
For more information on the program, contact the library at 207-513-3135 or LPLReference@lewistonmaine.gov.
