AUGUSTA — A “multi-family yard sale” will be held Friday, June 9, and Saturday, June 10, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine, at Chateau Cushnoc and John Marvin Tower, 36 and 38 Townsend St.
In addition to the sale of household items, knick-knacks, crafts, jewelry, books and more, the event will include a bake sale and hot-dog lunch. A special table will feature Elvis collectibles, noted Anita Parenteau, service coordinator for John Martin Tower.
“We are a non-profit providing housing for the elderly,” she explained. “Proceeds from this annual sale will benefit UCRA (United Council of Residents Association), which raises money through these sales to assist the general population as well as make donations to various causes in the area. They also are able to provide (musical) entertainment for the residents though these funds.”
Chateau Cushnoc and John Marvin Tower are part of EHDOC properties, she added. The Elderly Housing Development and Operations Corporation is based out of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., providing reduced-rent housing for the elderly population.
