NORWAY – The Table continues to offer free ways for the community to connect through the winter months.
The schedule includes:
Weekly free breakfasts, both in person and pickup, 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Norway Grange, 15 Whitman St. Teams that would like to volunteer to serve a breakfast are always welcome. The in-person breakfasts have been a great way to combat food insecurity as well as fulfill a social need for many in the area.
Table’s HOGs (Healthy Outdoor Group) continues to hike through the winter. It is open to all abilities, and all are welcome. Check The Table Facebook page for updates and schedule changes.
The next hike is 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, at Roberts Farm Conservation Area. The group will meet at the trail head, 64 Roberts Road.
At 12:30 p.m. Sunday, March 12, the group plans to hike at Devil’s Den, in Andover. To join, meet at Dollar General in West Paris to carpool and convoy to the site. Cleats are a must and children will have to be closely supervised by an adult caregiver. It’s a short walk to Devil’s Den, which is a natural ice fall.
The Table LEG (Ladies Encouragement/Enrichment Group) meets at 6:30 a.m. Monday at The Square Restaurant, South Paris. The group follows the devotional reading of the upper room, shares with each other and offers hope and encouragement for the week ahead. All women are welcome. There is no registration, just show up.
Free clothing is available 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday and 10 a.m. to noon the last Saturday of the month at The Table, 160 Main St. Staff can help customers find specific clothing. The Table accepts lightly used clothing and footwear 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday the first two weeks of the month. Needs are children’s lightly used or new clothing and shoes, as well as money to buy new socks and underwear.
The Table is also still seeking free space for its clothing program from any individual or business with an empty in-town building who wants to give back to the community.
Recovery groups that meet at the table are Narcotics Anonymous, 7 p.m. Tuesday; Alcoholics Anonymous, 7 p.m. Wednesday; Al-Anon, 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
The Table is made up of volunteers from Bolsters Mills United Methodist Church, Norway Grange and community members. Its mission is to offer free healthy and safe community programs. Sign up for the monthly email “Table Talk” newsletter to keep up with what is planned each month.
