Lewiston seeks city residents for CDBG committee

Feb. 62023

LEWISTON – Mayor Carl L. Sheline is seeking at least two volunteers to become members of the city’s Community Development Block Grant Review Committee.
The CDBG Committee assists the city in developing the goals and objectives for the CDBG Consolidated Plan and to annually review and score CDBG funding requests in order to make a recommendation to the city council for funding. The federal Community Development Block Grant program is administered through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and provides money that supports development and programs that build stronger communities in underserved areas.
Lewiston residents interested in applying must be of low to moderate income and live in the 201-204 census tracts (see accompanying map). They may contact the City Clerk’s Department to complete an application. The application form is also available at lewistonmaine.gov/boardservice.
Applications may be submitted at any time and will be accepted until the positions are filled.
Those with questions may contact the city clerk’s office at 207-513-3124.
