LEWISTON – Tri-County Mental Health Services will get $175,000 in funding after Congress approved 140 Maine projects that will receive more than $250 million from the Fiscal Year 2023 Omnibus Appropriations Package.
TCMHS will use its grant to renovate and repair its aging infrastructure, including crucial roofing and heating system repairs that are essential in maintaining a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment to best serve Tri-County clients, the organization said.
Catherine R. Ryder, CEO of Tri-County Mental Health Services, said, “The ability to create a welcoming, safe and trauma-informed environment is essential so that clients feel encouraged and comfortable enough to share their stories and grow in their recovery.”
Ryder thanked U.S. Sen. Angus King, I-Maine, who supported the funding.
“Access to high-quality mental healthcare is critical to the success and wellbeing of Maine people,” King said. “I’ve long thought we should dedicate just as many resources to mental health as we do physical health and as we recover from the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for investment in this field is greater than ever. Tri-County Mental Health Services has risen to this challenge by doing life-changing work to support Maine people in times of need. These renovations will help Tri-County continue its services, maintain a welcoming environment, and serve more people across the region.”
