LEWISTON – Financial fraud will be the topic at the Lewiston-Auburn Senior College Food for Thought program Wednesday, Jan. 25.

Speaker will be Melissa Record, who has worked in financial services for 30 years, both at community banks and for a student loan servicer. For the past 12 years, she has been employed by Auburn Savings Bank in the loan and deposit servicing area of the bank, and works with Bank Secrecy Act issues and overall bank compliance. Her role has given her an opportunity to see many of the ways that fraudsters operate as well as a chance to intervene on customers’ behalf to stop fraud.
Her presentation will cover some of the common types of fraud that have been circulating for years, along with some new variations. She will discuss common tactics that scammers use and what red flags there are to signal a scam.
