Central, western Maine animal care organizations awarded grants

ELLSWORTH — Central and western Maine animal care organizations and projects are among 25 that will share $342,884 in grants from the Maine Community Foundation Animal Welfare Grant Program.
Awardees that serve Turner Publishing circulation area residents, and what the award will support, are:
Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, Westbrook, general support, $15,000
Franklin County Animal Shelter, Farmington, cat spay/neuter voucher program, $10,000
Friends of Feral Felines, Portland, to continue trap, spay/neuter, and placement efforts, $15,000
Greater Androscoggin Humane Society, Lewiston, general support, $15,000
Harvest Hills Animal Shelter, Fryeburg, general support, $15,000
Humane Society Waterville Area, Waterville, general support, $15,000
Responsible Pet Care of Oxford Hills, South Paris, general support, $15,000
Somerset Humane Society, Skowhegan, spay/neuter vouchers, $15,000
