Leavitt grad earns Ph.D., focusing on alcohol, drug use

LEEDS – Katelyn T. Kirk-Provencher, a 2009 graduate of Leavitt Area High School, recently earned a doctorate degree in clinical psychology from the University of Rhode Island.

She is the daughter of Brenda and Doug Kirk, of Leeds, and granddaughter of Bob and Vicky Mason of North Turner. She is also a 2013 graduate of the University of Maine.
Kirk-Provencher is trained in forensic evaluation, psychological assessment, cognitive behavioral therapy, sex offender rehabilitation and treatment, and trauma- and substance use-related interventions, and has published 11 peer-reviewed articles in top scientific journals and has presented at more than 20 national psychology and substance use research conferences. She recently co-authored a textbook chapter on adolescent alcohol and drug use and has appeared as a guest on the Violence and Gender Podcast.
She is a postdoctoral fellow at the Brain Alcohol Research Laboratory in the School of Medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and is working towards a psychologist license with the goal of becoming a certified forensic evaluator for the state of Colorado. She lives in Denver, Colorado, with her husband, Dayle Provencher of Eddington.
